U.S Navy and Air Force personnel load an all terrain vehicle (ATV) onto a MH-53E Sea Dragon at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla., Sept. 8, 2019. ATVs aid in navigating rugged terrain during assessments and site surveys. The ATVs will be used to help perform site surveys in The Bahamas. In support of USAID's Foreign Disaster Relief efforts, DOD is bringing unique military capabilities to enable the broader response effort. The Secretary of Defense authorized U.S. Northern Command to provide transportation logistics for the movement of USAID and third party humanitarian commodities and personnel throughout the region and to conduct assessments of critical transportation nodes to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance and maximize the flow of disaster relief into the area.
