Runners take advantage of new Olympic-style track
Homestead Air Reserve Base’s newest amenity, an Olympic-style running track that circles the softball field, has become a comfortable and safe respite for the runners and joggers across the base. The track is equipped with a rubberized surface cushioning the impact from each step, causing less “wear and tear” than from running on concrete. And it’s a safer option for runners who wish to stay off the roads. “People love it. I’ve gotten rave reviews,” said Mr. Herb Tiedemann, Sam Johnson Fitness Center Director. “It’s easier on the ankles, knees and lower back.” (U.S. Air Force photo)
