Members of Homestead Air Reserve Base can take advantage of free anti-virus software being offered on the Air Force Portal. Service members can log in to the Air Force Portal and click on the tab labeled “home software use” on the left. In this area, there will be a listing of Air force partners who have agreed to provide software or hardware for free or at a discounted price. Among them is the McAfee Internet Security anti-virus. Homestead Air Reserve Base F-16s are receiving avionics systems upgrades, to include the Center Display Unit (pictured). The CDU is a multi-function digital display, akin to a handheld smart tablet. It will be installed to replace the cockpit’s original analog dials, and, while providing the same airspeed, altitude, and aircraft position data, it will also provide additional tactical situational awareness to the pilot.
