ABOVE AND BEYOND

Master Sgt. William Gordon, an Air Force reservist with the 482nd Fighter Wing Security Forces Squadron stands proudly with his civilian employer, Ken Pachnek, chief of police for the City of Lauderhill. Pachnek was awarded the Above and Beyond award by the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve during a ceremony on May 3. The Above and Beyond award is presented to civilian employers who find innovative ways to support activated reservists when they perform their military duties, such as attending or sponsoring welcome home ceremonies, supporting military families, and providing income-replacement assistance during activations for military service.
