Access denied: Gate defense exercise tests security forces
Staff Sgt. Agustin Blanco (left), Tech. Sgt. Edgar Valpais (right) and Department of Defense Officer Darrell Thiel (background) apprehend Tech. Sgt. Jose Maldonado (middle), who acted as an assailant during a 482nd Security Forces Squadron exercise testing front gate defense on Jan. 15. The Defenders were presented with multiple scenarios involving reacting to an attack, apprehending an armed assailant, responding to casualties, establishing on-scene commander and alerting response forces. The exercise was videotaped, and members critiqued themselves afterwards to further learn from the scenarios. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Erik Hofmeyer)
