Reservist recalls 'lucky' motorcycle accident

Tech. Sgt. John Griffin recounts his motorcycle accident, explaining how his use of personal protective equipment saved his life, during a commander's call at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla., May 5. Among his many injuries, Griffin suffered a shattered left elbow, a fractured left shoulder blade, and two fractures on his lower back as a result of the accident in April. Both Griffin and his doctor credit his use of personal protective equipment for saving his life. Griffin is a traditional reservist with the 482nd Maintenance Squadron at Homestead ARB.
