Air Force personnel in all components, overseas and at home station, have commemorated the 60th Anniversary since the dedication of the Air Force monument in Washington D.C. last year, and the 482nd Fighter Wing is adding its own unique touch to the milestone.

The 482nd FW will host the "Heritage to Horizons" Air Force Celebration at the Miami Airport Hilton Hotel, 5101Blue Lagoon Drive, Miami, FL 33126 on Nov. 2. Cocktail hour begins at 7 p.m., with dinner following at 8 p.m.

Homestead Air Reserve Base's first ball since 1999 will provide opportunities to recognize the Air Force's 60th Anniversary, reflect on our remarkable heritage and those who have served, and pay tribute to those members who have deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism, said. Col. Randall Falcon, 482nd Fighter Wing commander.

U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, 25th District of Florida, will be the evening's keynote speaker along with Maj. Gen. Charles Stenner, former 482nd FW commander and current Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Plans and Programs, Headquarters U.S. Air Force.

The renowned Air Force Strolling Strings, an ensemble of the Air Force Band, will entertain guests. Since 1954, Air Force String Ensembles have performed at the White House for every President of the United States. The musicians surround audiences while playing exclusively from memory and without the aid of a conductor. Their repertoire includes classical, popular, continental, Broadway, bluegrass and patriotic compositions.

"This event will be fabulous, and we're confident we'll have a big turnout, said 1st Lt. Katherine Easevoli, 482nd FW executive officer. "We're hoping that base personnel will get the word out to the reservists who aren't here during the week."
