Hundreds of 482nd Mission Support Group reservists packed into the base gymnasium while Col. Michael McCully, 482nd Mission Support Group commander, assumed command from Col. Dennis Daley on Dec. 1.

Colonel McCully arrives at the 482nd MSG from Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station, Pa. after commanding the 911th MSG. The Castro Valley, Calif., native entered the Air Force Reserve in 1993 after serving three tours on active duty.

Col. Randall Falcon, 482nd Fighter Wing commander commended Colonel Daley in his opening remarks by stating that he couldn't have asked for a better Mission Support Group commander and friend.

"He is leaving a base that is better off because of his service," Colonel Falcon said. "You've had a great commander and you're getting a great commander. I know Colonel McCulley will keep us going in the right direction; he is an outstanding leader," Colonel Falcon said.

Colonel Daley highlighted each squadron's major accomplishments during his five-and-a-half years as 482nd MSG commander in his farewell speech, and he gave thanks to many individuals he worked closely with over the years. The former 482nd MSG commander will continue serving until June, when he'll retire from the Air Force after almost 30 years.

Colonel McCulley began his introductory speech by thanking Colonel Daley and wishing him good luck, and he outlined six points he challenged reservists to realize. The points he mentioned included: Find the courage to lead; show that you have good character; be a good communicator; take care of your teammates; take responsibility for present and the future; and take care of your family.
