Throughout the years, South Miami-Dade County companies have regularly contacted Homestead Air Reserve Base hoping to "tap" into the military market.

And now, this well-defined market has increased opportunities for corporate entities to partner with the base through the Commercial Sponsorship Program. The Homestead Services Division now provides a variety of opportunities to showcase merchandise, develop product awareness and enhance brand loyalty within the military market.

Homestead Services hosts monthly events and activities supporting the morale, welfare and recreation for those assigned to the base. Upcoming events include Comedy Nights, (the next performance on April 11), Mother's Day Brunch on May 11, and a championship party for personnel involved with base intramural athletics. The program also goes hand in hand with Services festivals and picnics, sports leagues, fitness classes and the Outdoor Recreation Center, said Mrs. Rachel Day, 482nd Services Squadron commercial sponsorship manager.

Sponsors are entitled to receive recognition at these events and in the publicity and advertising leading up to the event. Also, other benefits include showcasing merchandise, developing product awareness and enhancing brand loyalty within the military market. Businesses can request exclusive advertising or sponsor an event in part like the three businesses that sponsored our St. Patrick's Day party, she said.

This direct exposure to a large military community offers opportunities for increased recognition through event marketing and promotional advertising, she said.

Currently, the base employs nearly 1,100 full-time employees who live in the Homestead and South Miami-Dade communities, and another 1,200 Air Force reservists who travel from all over South Florida for monthly Unit Training Assemblies at the base.

"This Program is a win-win situation. Many of the people serving at Homestead Air Reserve base live in the Miami-Dade area whether it's Monday-Friday or on the Reserve weekends," Day said. "This gives local businesses the opportunity to share their products at one of our events. Commercial Sponsorship allows the military and civilian businesses to partner in a unique way to support our local men and women in uniform."
