The 482nd Fighter Wing's F-16 fleet remains deployed to Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth Carswell Field, Texas, as Tropical Storm Hanna passes Florida and Hurricane Ike looms in the Atlantic.

Twenty five F-16 fighter jets and dozens of maintenance personnel evacuated to Texas as a precaution on Sept. 3.

The 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron "Hurricane Hunters" have also departed Homestead Air Reserve Base after flying daily weather reconnaissance missions into Hurricane Gustav and Tropical Storm Hanna.

The 482nd Fighter Wing's September Unit Training Assembly remains scheduled for Sept. 6-7 although no training missions will be flown due to the evacuation.

All those unable to attend because of the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav or the impending impact of Tropical Storm Hanna are authorized a reschedule to the alternate Unit Training Assembly on Sept. 20-21. This needs to be coordinated with your supervisor prior to this weekend, and any reschedule needs to be completed this fiscal year. Those unable to reschedule are left to the discretion of their commander/supervisor concerning an excused absence, said Col. William Binger, 482nd Fighter Wing commander.
