The 482nd Maintenance Group now has a new commander at the helm of the 482nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and a familiar face commanding the 482nd Maintenance Squadron after a dual ceremony on Feb. 8.

Though most of the 482nd MXG remains deployed to Iraq, approximately 80 members attended the ceremony to witness Lt. Col. Luis Millares assuming command of the 482nd MXS after relinquishing command of the 482nd AMXS. Colonel Millares, a traditional reservist, led the aircraft maintenance squadron since May 2007.

In addition, Lt. Col. Michael Reid assumed command of the 482nd AMXS during the joint ceremony. Colonel Reid, an air reserve technician, comes to Homestead Air Reserve Base after commanding the 149th Maintenance Squadron from Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, where he oversaw the maintenance of F-16s. In his 22-year Air Force maintenance career, the colonel has worked on a plethora of aircraft to include the KC-135 Stratotanker, B-52 and B-1 Bombers, and F-16 fighter jets.
