Tickets on sale for the South Florida Air Force Ball

Tickets are now on sale for the 2009 South Florida Air Force Ball, celebrating the 62nd Anniversary of the United States Air Force, is scheduled for Sept. 19 at the Doubletree Airport Hotel in Miami.

Tickets may be purchased through the ball Web site. The formal Military Dining-Out will feature guest speaker Lt. Gen. Philip Breedlove, who currently serves as Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, Plans and Requirements at Headquarters Air Force. Also, the 482nd Fighter Wing's Honor Guard will be presenting the colors.

The ball is not sponsored by the 482nd Fighter Wing; however, the Homestead Air Reserve Base Honor Guard will be presenting the colors, and Air Force members from all over South Florida will be in attendance.

The festivities are scheduled to start with a social hour at 6 p.m., and dining out activities, dinner and the guest speaker will follow at 7 p.m. The menu will include a combination plate of beef and chicken with vegetables. Vegetarian plates will be available as a special option.

Active service and retired officers (O-4 and above): $55
Active duty, Reserve, retired officers (O-1 to O-3): $40
Active duty, Reserve, retired enlisted (E-7 to E-9): $40
Active duty, Reserve, retired enlisted (E-1 to E-6): $25
Air Force ROTC and Air Force JROTC: $25
Civilian spouses and guests pay same rate as military member

Formal dress
Officers: Mess Dress Uniform
Enlisted and Cadets: Mess Dress Uniform, or Semi-Formal uniform
Retired Officers: Mess Dress Uniform, or Tuxedo, or Dark Business suit with dark tie
Retired Enlisted: Same as retired officers (above) with optional Semi-Formal variation
Civilians: Tuxedo, or Dark Business suit with dark tie
Women: non-military guests should wear formal evening attire
