Wings Over Homestead Air Show 'Do's and Don'ts' Published Oct. 21, 2009 By 482nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs HOMESTEAD AIR RESERVE BASE, Fla. -- In order to ensure a safe and enjoyable time at the Wings Over Homestead Air Show, here is some information to consider while preparing to attend the two-day event, Nov. 7-8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Do carpool. Parking on and around the base will be available, but carpooling is encouraged to ensure sufficient parking space for all air show visitors. Do bring folding/lawn chairs. Visitors wanting to sit will need to bring their own portable seating to the show. This will facilitate a much more enjoyable experience. Do come early. Arriving early allows the opportunity to see and experience all the air show has to offer. In addition, coming early will help with the traffic flow into the base. Do hydrate. Beverages will be available during the air show. It is highly recommended to stay hydrated to avoid heat exhaustion and other heat related conditions. Don't bring dogs or other animals, bicycles, roller-blades, skateboards, alcohol, food or beverages, weapons, illegal drugs, fireworks, coolers and backpacks. Don't smoke on or around the flight line. The entire ramp is a no smoking area. Don't roam into restricted areas. Homestead Air Reserve Base is a military installation and certain areas are off limits to the public. Prohibited Items: Firearms, explosives, knives, stun guns/tasers, batons, pepper spray, illegal drugs, fireworks, coolers, backpacks or briefcases. Large bags or packages are not allowed on installation grounds Please note: All of the above items listed may be put into an "amnesty box" if brought to the air show. This storage container has been provided to the public near the air show entrance screening area for the deposit of any weapons, prohibited items and/or contraband without fear of arrest or prosecution. Items placed in the amnesty box will not be returned. Certain necessary bags will be permitted and are subject to search. Some examples of acceptable baggage are diaper and camera bags. Strollers, wagons and folding chairs will also be permitted and are highly recommended "These policies are put in place for the safety of the public, our staff and the aircraft" said Maj.
