Two Homestead firefighters compete for DOD fire, emergency services awards

Two firefighters from Homestead ARB are representing Air Force Reserve Command in the Department of Defense Fire and Emergency Services Award competition.

The Homestead nominees are:

Fire officer - Alvin L. Sims, 482nd Mission Support Group Fire Department

Firefighter - Edward H. Reed

According to command fire and emergency services officials, the FES community is on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, putting their lives on the line while "Protecting Those Who Defend America."

Each year the command recognizes outstanding accomplishments and honors fire departments, fire fighters, and heroes through the annual DOD Fire and Emergency Services Awards Program. The award winners will be announced at the DOD Fire Emergency Training Conference during the Air Force Reserve Command Fire Emergency Services Awards presentation Aug. 26 in Chicago.
