Members of the SER-FL-279th Civil Air Patrol Squadron from Homestead Air Reserve Base, took part in the third annual Halloween Haunted Festival at Falcon' s Nest Club on Sunday, October 31.

The Halloween Haunted Festival theme this year was "Attack of the Alien Zombies". The event featured a free community carnival, haunted hayride, haunted house, music, food and candy, as well as a pumpkin patch for the younger trick-or-treaters.

The 279th C.A.P. Squadron was in attendance to help out. Cadet members of the unit acted as zombie cast members in both the haunted hayride and haunted house attractions. Senior members also volunteered at the event in the Leap Frog booth of the community carnival. Both cadets and senior members enjoyed screams of fear and howls of laughter as they volunteered their time for the festive event.

"It was a great night," said 279th C.A.P Acting Commander 1st Lt. Timothy Hamilton. "I could not have asked for a better group to work with. The actors and booth went very well and we put Homestead Cadet Squadron on the map."

The Civil Air Patrol, which is the civilian auxiliary to the U.S. Air Force, will also be in attendance on Sunday, November 7, as volunteers at this year's Wings Over Homestead Air Show.
