The American Red Cross opened their new satellite office here at Homestead Air Reserve Base on Friday March 18. The Service to Armed Forces office is located at the 482nd Fighter Wing Airman and Family Readiness Center in building 360, room 127. An American Red Cross associate will be at the service to Armed Forces office Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"We're excited to open a new satellite office and serve the troops here at homestead," said Mrs. Rebeca Rivera, American Red Cross volunteer.

The SAF office will be working with the Airmen and Family Readiness center to support military member's families. They will be assisting military spouses and children as their loved ones are deployed. The American Red Cross regularly sends care packages to deployed military members and connects them to their families by mail and phone.

"The American Red Cross is committed to supporting military members and their families and remaining an easily accessible and dependable resource to them," said Mrs. Rivera.

The American Red Cross is also offering volunteer opportunities for military members to serve with them in various causes and relief efforts. They currently have a program in which service members can earn points towards promotion and possibly the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal after they complete 500 hours of volunteer work.
