Air Force Reservists are often called upon to selflessly volunteer their time to help others around the world. This standard however, in February was exceeded by the 482nd Logistics Readiness Squadron when Airmen responded to the request of one of their colleagues to help with a noble event for children in the Central American country of Honduras with materials and monetary support.

The "Missionary Experience" trip commenced Feb., 20-28, sponsored by the Christ Missionary Church Council, M.I., and its International Missionary Youth Association Puerto Rico and Florida North District to provide a special event for the children of the city of Siguatepeque, Honduras.

"Our estimated children were about 50 and our expectations were over passed with more than 250 children attending this event," said Staff Sgt. Yolanda Ramirez, 482nd LRS.

"We were able to provide the children with school materials, candy and a wonderful day full of character performances by our youth group. This event gave joy and hope to the children in Siguatepeque, that due to the remote areas of living and scarce resources, rarely get to enjoy these luxuries," said Ramirez. "This wonderful mark that was left in the lives of these children would not have been possible without the Homestead Air Reserve Base and its members that gave the monetary support."

Staff Sgt. Ramirez traveled to Honduras to assist with the mission and conduct training seminars to the youth groups.
