482nd Maintenance Group Assumption of Command

Colonel Gerald F. Micheletti assumed command of the 482nd Fighter Wing Maintenance Group on Sept. 11. He is responsible for 26 F-16 fighter aircraft, over 600 reservists, and four different organizations which include the Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Maintenance Squadron, and the Maintenance Operations Flight.

Col Micheletti is a native of International Falls, MN. He began his association with the Air Force in July 1971 when he entered the United States Air Force Academy. He graduated and was commissioned in 1975. He began his aircraft maintenance career in 1976, separated from active duty in 1980, and became an Air Reserve Technician in 1982.

After several ART and traditional reserve assignments, he was recalled to active duty in January 1991 for Operation DESERT STORM. He deployed to Saudi Arabia with the 926th Fighter Wing and was subsequently sent to King Khalid Military City in northern Saudi Arabia to run the maintenance operation for the A-10 Forward Operating Location (FOL). He deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, voluntarily filling the Expeditionary Maintenance Group Commander position at Manas Air Base, Kyrgys Republic, in Central Asia, from June to September 2004.
