Base to host ghost and ghouls

Homestead Air Reserve Base will host its Fourth Annual Haunted Festival at its new location, the Sam Johnson Fitness Center. The family-friendly event commences Halloween Day, Oct. 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. The event is open to all Department of Defense employees, military members, contractors and their families.

All entertainment is free and will feature carnival style games for trick or treaters, a hay ride, music, and an abandoned insane asylum theme haunted house. This maze like attraction will take guests through the halls of an old asylum hospital where spirits of the mentally insane still roam the halls. This attraction is for guests 8 and older.

Younger trick or treaters will be able to participate in a special attraction; the Pumpkin Patch. This area features a mini maze with kid friendly characters like Scooby Doo.

Food and beverages will also be available for a small charge.

Non-DOD or military guests may attend as a sponsored guest by a military or DOD sponsor. Costumes are not mandatory but encouraged, however masks cannot be worn when entering the base for security reasons.
