A key group of Airmen are maintaining the communications networks for the Wings Over Homestead air show here, Nov. 3 and 4.

During the air show, Airmen assigned to the 482nd Communications Squadron set up and maintained a Joint Incident Site Communications Capability to provide radio communications for police, fire fighters, first responders, performers, air traffic controllers, and the air show performance coordinator.

"The JISCC enables us to provide a flexibility of communications capabilities," said 2nd Lt. J. Anthony Rubio, 482nd Communications Squadron cyberspace officer. "Without a JISCC, agencies wouldn't be able to communicate with each other. It's our essential role to provide a means of communication and a central point of command and control in the event of an emergency."

The JISCC provides interoperability for various departments and agencies using different frequencies and channels to communicate. Utilizing a JISCC, in the event of an emergency all agencies can be connected on the same channel to communicate with each other.

"Operating the JISCC, I help our first responders and emergency personnel stay on the same page," said Senior Airman Bobby Stouffer, 482nd Communications Squadron radio frequencies operator. "I am excited for this great opportunity to be involved with our base community and provide them a safe environment during the air show."

According to Lt. Col. Harold Talbert, 482nd Security Forces Squadron commander, thorough planning and excellent communication ensured the safety of all who attended the event.

"The security and communications network for the air show was thoroughly planned," said Talbert. "The communications squadron and emergency personnel worked seamlessly to stay connected and the air show was a success."
