Club receives new manager Published April 18, 2013 By Senior Airman Jaimi Upthegrove 482nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs HOMESTEAD AIR RESERVE BASE, Fla. -- Homestead Air Reserve Base's club, the Falcon's Nest, recently welcomed its new manager, Mr. James Nichols. Nichols has more than 30 years of experience and is a seasoned club manager. He comes to Homestead ARB from Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. "I am excited to see what I can do to make the club a more enjoyable place for military members to come together," said Nichols. Nichols has high hopes for the various club menus. He's looking into changes for the bar menu, catering menu, and lunch menu, to include a pasta bar during lunch and adding Mongolian barbeque to the menu. "There are a lot of avant-garde ideas I would like to implement," said Nichols. "As long as the changes can be supported, I will continue to make improvements." Right now, time is being spent training the staff for the new changes and preparing everyone to move into the new troop feeding facility when it's completed. On the list of changes is a switch to using more freshly prepared ingredients versus store bought. This change will not only enhance the flavor of the meals but will help keep costs down, which is crucial in these financially tough times, according to Nichols. "Mr. Nichols will be a tremendous asset to our team with new and proven programs for our new club and community activity center," said Alice Fields, 482nd Force Support Squadron Chief of Services. "He has a great outlook and loves his job, but what really sets him apart is that he is here for our Airmen and understands their value. He knows the Air Force club systems and programs which makes him invaluable to our team." According to Nichols, clubs are important to Air Force life, and supporting them, despite the tight fiscal climate, should be a priority. "The service we provide the base is important," says Nichols. "The club is a place that fosters mentorship. Our military is constantly changing and it's crucial that airmen have a place where they can comfortably interact."
