The 482nd Fighter Wing Airman's Council helped deliver holiday spirit to deployed members of the 482nd Maintenance Group.

The council worked to put together and mail care packages in time for members to enjoy over the holidays. Family members and friends of deployed troops helped to cover the cost of the care packages, including shipping expenses.

Included in the holiday packages were:
Christmas stocking
Santa hat
Candy
Beef jerky
Sunflower seeds
Christmas card, signed by the members shop
Thank you letter from Col. Douglas Batson, 482nd Maintenance Group commander

"I'm deeply humbled by their service to our country and the daily sacrifice of the families supporting that heroic service," Batson wrote to his deployed troops in a thank you letter. "We are fortunate to live in a country where people will voluntarily pick up arms and defend our freedom."

The stockings were personalized to each Airman currently deployed in support of wartime operations. Along with the care packages, the council worked to gather and ship holiday decorations for deployed members.

"We want the packages to feel personal so the Airman know we are grateful for what they are doing," said Senior Airman Rodane Williams, Airman's Council president. "And that we appreciate their individual sacrifice being away from their families at this time of year."

The care packages should arrive on Christmas Eve.

The Airman's Council plans to send more care packages out in February, in time for Valentine's Day.

Keep an eye out for more information and ways to help support deployed members, added Williams.
