The 482nd Force Support Squadron was recognized for excellence in marketing, outdoor recreation and food operations. The squadron was awarded the Air Force Reserve Command's Marketing, Outdoor Recreation and Food Operations Programs of the Year (Club and Base Restaurants) for 2013.

"Huge thanks to the dedicated members of the Force Support Squadron for all that they do supporting the base," said Col. Chris Funk, 482nd Fighter Wing commander. "It is through their efforts that we are able to enjoy events and opportunities that we wouldn't typically have at a base."

The 482nd FSS Marketing and Commercial Sponsorship efforts included supporting many base events, including the Wings Over Homestead Air Show, July 4 celebrations and Haunted Halloween. Working closely with the community and sponsors, military and families from Homestead Air Reserve Base were able to enjoy many enhanced events in large part due to the marketing department's efforts.

Supporting single Airmen through trips to the Everglades, NASCAR experience, and diving and fishing 101, the 482nd FSS Outdoor Recreation office offers many programs to the base. Additionally, the office supports family members through Family First road biking program and ensuring base playgrounds are available to families, according to their award-winning submission package.

Maintaining a profitable club operation, the 482nd FSS Food Operations program was recognized by AFRC as being one of only three clubs Air Force-wide to increase its membership in 2012, according to their award package. Increasing sales by $404,000 and maintaining a 92 percent satisfaction rate amongst their customers, the program was recognized as the best in AFRC.

The AFRC award recipients will continue on and compete at the Air Force award level.
