The 482nd Maintenance Squadron welcomed their new commander Maj. Jay Rodriguez during an assumption of command ceremony, Feb. 9.

Col. Douglas Batson, 482nd Maintenance Group commander, ceremoniously passed the squadron guidon to Rodriguez during the ceremony.

"I am excited to continue the great work the Maintenance Squadron already does," said Rodriguez. "My philosophy for achieving success is to always take care of your people. I look forward to serving the Airmen of the Maintenance Squadron."

During the ceremony, Rodriguez received the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal award for his service to the Maintenance Operations Flight. He earned this award for leading his flight through manning shortfalls, operational readiness inspections, and two deployments.
