Select Airmen on Homestead ARB base are raising money through April 11, for the Air Force Assistance Fund to support retired Airmen and the dependents of our enlisted Airmen.

Twenty-six keyworkers have been selected and trained throughout the wing to make individual contact with the units to raise awareness and support for the campaign.

"Homestead ARB has raised $526 in the first week; the goal is to reach $10,000 by April 11," said 2nd Lt. Christine Manson, Installation Project Officer for Homestead Air Reserve Base's AFAF Campaign.

The campaign is also a competition among the squadrons to see who can raise the most money.

"It's a friendly competition and it's good for unit morale," said Manson. "A certificate will be given to the winning squadron's commander to show everyone's appreciation."

AFAF sends the funds to Air Force Village, Air Force Enlisted Village, General and Mrs. Curtis Lemay Foundation, and Air Force Aid Society.

"These funds are used to assist those Airmen who came before us and Air Force families so they can receive the support and fellowship they need," said Tech. Sgt. Michelle Brown, a keyworker here. "These funds will keep programs in place for these who come after us."

Donations can be given in the form of cash or check made payable to Air Force Assistance Fund. Receipts for itemized deductions on income tax are available.
