Volunteers from Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida, recently supported a "Spring Workday" clean-up community event at Campbell Drive K-8 Center in Homestead, Florida.

Armed with shovels and rakes, more than 12 volunteers from Team Homestead helped clean-up the school April 26.

"Taking the time to give back to our community is one of the most rewarding things you can do," said Chief Master Sgt. Katdo Robinson, interim Command Chief for the 482nd Fighter Wing. "When the community reaches out to the base to help support events like the Spring Workday clean-up, volunteers always jump at the opportunity."

At a recent luncheon on base, Pastor Brock Shiffer of the Greater Homestead/Florida City Military Affairs Committee and Speedway Community Church, thanked volunteers for their hard work, stating the school's staff was appreciative of their efforts.

May is Military Appreciation, and the base plans to support many additional community events with volunteers, including the City of Homestead's 3rd Annual Military Appreciation Day May 17. The event will be held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. in downtown Homestead along Krome Avenue.
