Homestead Air Reserve Base is participating in a clothing donation drive for Chapman Partnership, a local organization helping to combat homelessness in south Florida, running Aug 4-15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Clothing can be dropped off at building 404, room 102.

Chapman Partnership is a non-profit organization working to empower homeless men, women, and children to build a positive future by providing the resources and assistance critical to growth and independence, according to their website. The organization provides emergency housing, meals, health, dental, and psychiatric care, day care, job training, job placement and assistance with securing stable housing.

Types of clothing requested for donation are: interview attire, clothing suitable for worship services, school clothes, and shoes for men, women, and children.

Receipts will be available for tax purposes. Place a list of items being donated and their estimated thrift shop value in an envelope and attach to donation. Chapman partnership will pick up the items and send receipts back to the address specified.

"We need the name, address, and phone number so we can mail the receipts back to you," said Sharon P. Haxton, Community Outreach Coordinator at Chapman Partnership.

Service members have an opportunity to help those less fortunate.

"Airmen should get involved in this drive to support the community and help out the local folks," said Haxton.
