Detachment 93, 495th Fighter Group held a change of command ceremony where Lt. Col. Henry R. Jeffress assumed command here Aug. 28.

Jeffress takes command of 176 active duty personnel and nine pilots from Det. 93, 495th FG, which has integrated with the 482nd Fighter Wing.

Colonel James D. McCune, commander of the 495th FG presided over the ceremony.

"I am proud of what you've done out here, how you worked together," said McCune. "That's what Total Force Integration is all about."

Total Force Integration aims to embed active-duty personnel with guard and reserve service members to cut costs and train Airmen. Although Det. 93 is located here, it reports directly to the 495th FG located at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.

"I thank the 482nd FW for taking care of me and my wife," said Lt. Col. Scott W. Walker, outgoing Det. 93 commander. "I'm honored and happy to have been your first commander. I appreciated the chance to serve with you, and go down range with you."

During his time here, Walker led the detachment's deployment to Afghanistan earlier this year. During their deployment, Airmen worked to maintain and equip F-16C jets to provide intelligence, and close air support for the International Security Assistance Force and other NATO forces.

Jeffress' previous assignment was as director of operations 80th Fighter Squadron, 8th Fighter Wing, Kunsan Air Base, Korea. Jeffress has served as an F-16 aircraft commander, earned two Air Medals, and an Aerial Achievement Medal. He is a senior pilot with more than 1,900 flying hours, including over 500 instructor hours, and 116 combat hours over Iraq.

"I look forward to working with you," said Jeffress during the ceremony.
