Command Chief issues holiday thank you message Published Dec. 3, 2014 By 482nd Fighter Wing Command Chief Master Sgt. Katdo Robinson HOMESTEAD AIR RESERVE BASE, Fla. -- This time of year is always reflective - looking back over what we have accomplished, I am filled with awe and pride at the capabilities of the men and women here. We have accomplished great things - we deployed to Afghanistan; we excelled in the Unit Effectiveness Inspection and the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection, and we overcame budget shortfalls to achieve our mission. Thank you all for working to excel at all the challenges that have been thrown our way this year. And we're going to have to work just as hard to meet future challenges. Here is my call to action. It is my charge, my plea, that members of the wing be force multipliers and good wingmen. Look out for your troops, stay away from abuse, and keep safety at the forefront. For me, the holiday season means spending time with friends and family, and taking some time away from work to recharge. It's important during this time to keep your wingman close. These times can be stressful, for some more than others. There are many programs available for mental wellness, and I encourage you to help your wingman find help if it's needed. As you spend time with your friends and family, remember those without. If you, or someone you know, are having issues, we have the resources to help. All you have to do is knock, and the door will open to a wealth of support for you. As the base prepares for the holidays, we have an exciting line-up of events to support our Airmen and give back to the community. Thanksgiving baskets were a tremendous help to Airmen and I thank all who helped make Thanksgiving brunch at the Community Activity Center a memorable event. The December Unit Training Assembly will be full of excitement. The 482nd Force Support Squadron is going all out for the Family Day on Saturday. Bring your family down and enjoy the event as recognition of all you have accomplished throughout the year. I know I won't miss Chris Tucker's performance - he'll take the stage from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. A holiday card challenge will be held this year instead of a tree challenge. I encourage all squadrons and units here to participate to see who has the best card. The cards will be displayed by the Westover Gate entrance, and it will really be a festive sight for people to see over the UTA. Also, we're in the process collecting unwrapped toys for our Airmen and children in the community. Be sure to bring in an unwrapped toy to bring joy to a child during the holidays. Thank you, everyone, for giving your all every day and for your positive contributions to the mission and the welfare of the men and women of this Wing. The 482nd FW leadership is committed to making sure that during this holiday season we're doing our best to take care of our Airmen. Have a safe and pleasant holiday season.
