Florida ANG Command Team visits Detachment 1 at Homestead ARB

HOMESTEAD AIR RESERVE BASE, Fla. — The Florida Air National Guard Command Team, led by Brig. Gen. Richard L. Coffey III, Assistant Adjutant General (Air), visited the 125th Fighter Wing’s Detachment 1 at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Aug. 11, 2025. Joining him were Col. Deborah A. Garrett, Director of Staff (Air), and Command Chief Master Sgt. Angella M. Beckom, State Command Chief Master Sergeant (Air).

The team received a mission briefing from Detachment 1 leadership and Brig. Gen. Coffey held a question and answer session with Airmen. They toured living quarters, workspaces, and common areas before recognizing three Airmen for their exceptional contributions.

Tech. Sgt. Michael Hutchinson was recognized for excelling in both Electrical and Environmental and Avionics duties and improving COMSEC program procedures. Staff Sgt. Tyler Ridgeway was honored for resolving complex aircraft issues and graduating summa cum laude from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Tech. Sgt. Angelo Betancurt was cited for leading his team to a perfect annual inspection and enhancing unit safety programs.

The visit concluded with a meeting between the Florida ANG leadership and the 482d Fighter Wing leadership, led by Col. Brandon M. Kelly, to discuss mission priorities and collaboration.
