Many of you compare the start of the summer not just as the Memorial Day Weekend, but the start of the “101 Critical Days of Summer.”

Over the past year, the Air Force Occupational Safety world introduced our new year-round slogan “Quest for Zero.”  Although the Critical Days of Summer represents a need to heighten our safety awareness during a critical period (Jun-Sept.), “Quest for Zero” allows us to focus on our safety awareness around the clock.   Quest for Zero promotes safety awareness in all that we do; both on and off-duty to include various  activities that coincide with traveling, vacationing, barbequing, landscaping and beautification and any other off-duty activities that one may become part of.

As occupational safety managers, our goal is to encourage you to incorporate safety measures in all you do.  Our desire is that you have fun at what you do. Enjoy yourself, do it safely and return each day to your family and love ones and to your military family in one piece.  We encourage you to analyze your off-duty activities and mitigate conditions that could pose harm to you or your loved ones.

Throughout the year, your safety team provide promotional information to enhance your thought process on identifying potential hazards and how to integrate safety into your activities. We want you to use this information as a tool to help enhance your personal safety and the safety within your unit and organization.  We will continue our efforts to provide a safe and healthful work environment.  We hope that you will do your part by putting safety first in all you do. Quest for Zero is not just another slogan -- it’s a goal.  Zero Mishaps throughout the year!  Enjoy the holiday weekend.  Think safe, be safe and stay safe!
