The 482nd Fighter Wing's environmental flight has achieved excellence again!

During a brief ceremony, Col. Michael McCully, 482nd Mission Support Group commander, presented flight members the 2009 General Thomas D. White Environmental Quality Award and General Thomas D. White Pollution Prevention Award for Team Excellence on May 5.

The Air Force Reserve Command awards recognizes the installation conducting the best or most improved environmental quality programs and team of personnel who contributed the most to the Air Force's pollution prevention effort during the previous and current fiscal years.

The review board considers all aspects of the installations environmental program when judging these awards.

Two members of the flight received individual awards for their work in environmental excellence as well.

Mr. Larry Ventura, environmental flight chief, was awarded the 2009 AFRC Outstanding Community Planner of the Year. This award recognizes an individual who has exhibited and demonstrated superior performance in executing the duties of an Air Force Community Planner.

Mr. Timothy Driscoll, environmental protection specialist, was awarded the 2009 AFRC Outstanding Civil Engineer Manager of the Year - Civilian Category. This award recognizes the superior job performance of an Air Force civilian manager. Mr. Driscoll is also the 2009 482nd FW Civilian of the Year - Category II.

Nominees for individual awards are judged on their job performance, project and program management ability, technical competence, initiative and resourcefulness.

The Homestead ARB environmental flight has had a long history of winning awards.

"The environmental flight has proven once again that it's hands down the best environmental organization in AFRC," said Lt. Col. Ted Munchmeyer, 482nd Civil Engineering Squadron commander. "Larry, Tim and the rest of the environmental team have demonstrated a willingness to go the extra mile, and I could not be prouder of their continuing accomplishments."
