Once again the 482d FW Chief's Group is having their annual Christmas Tree Challenge.  They are challenging squadrons to see who will have the BEST decorated tree and the MOST toys under the tree; toy donations should be unwrapped.  Judges will be the Wing Commander, Vice Commander and Command Chief.  The judging will commence at 1300 on 8 Dec with the winners announced later that day. Toy donations will be made to our military family members and also to the Homestead Chapman Homeless Assistance Center. POC for the challenge is CMSgt Katdo Robinson at: katdo.robinson@us.af.mil. If you don't have plans for Thanksgiving, the Troop Feeding Facility and 
Community Activity Center will be open from 1200-1500.  E-1-E4 will just sign in, 
and E-5 and above will pay $10 per meal.  It's sure to be an an AWESOME spread, a lot of fun and you don't have to the clean dishes.  

Afterwards head to the base chapel for a post Thanksgiving bash; free food, movies and games.

Residents living near Homestead Air Reserve Base are advised that the base will be conducting Explosive Ordnance Disposal training Nov. 4 from 3-5 p.m. and on Nov. 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Explosive detonations will occur on these days which residents living near or adjacent to the base may hear. All Homestead ARB personnel are invited to attend a rare and exotic car show on the base flightline adjacent to base operations Nov. 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The free car show will feature dozens of exotic and rare cars, from a Ferrari FXX and a Ferrari 458 to a Ford GT and a NASCAR championship winning Penske Dodge. Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 23 - 31, is a national observance that focuses attention on the destructive effects drugs have on our nation. It was launched in 1988 by the National Family Partnership as a grassroots campaign to encourage kids and communities to stay drug free. To highlight this year's Red Ribbon celebration, the Homestead Drug Demand Reduction Program staff will be distributing drug awareness and prevention information and promotional items at the 482nd Medical Squadron, room 107, and at the Red Ribbon booth during the Halloween Hauntfest at the base fitness center next to the Shoppette Express Oct. 31.
