Members of the 482nd Mission Support Squadron Unit Advisory Council hosted a poetry reading at the Falcon's Nest Club, Jan. 9.

Eleven poets, military and civilian, expressed their thoughts and feelings through different means of poetry. Life stories, religion, love, American pride and even a smelly cat were all topics during the night.

Capt. Marlon Ferdinand of the 482nd Medical Squadron was the nights featured poet. His poems included topics about his life growing up, his "sweet" job in high school and a previous deployment to Afghanistan. The poems were conveyed in a story-telling performance that led to a standing ovation by the audience.

"The night was a huge success and the UAC has bigger and better events planned for the future," said Tech. Sgt. Earlvine Fort, president of the MSS UAC. "We encourage everyone to participate and become involved with the council."

The MSS UAC will host a Super Bowl pre-party on the Saturday evening of the February Unit Training Assembly, Feb. 6.

The mission of the 482nd Mission Support Squadron Unit Advisory Council is to maintain well-being and morale for all ranks by being a channel to  senior leadership of the squadron for Airmen's questions and concerns to be heard and answered.

The UAC meets every Saturday of the primary UTA at at 10 a.m. in building 360, room 123.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
