MSST welcomes new commander

7/16/2012 - HOMESTEAD AIR RESERVE BASE, Fla. -- Lt. Cmdr. Jason D. Ingram assumed command of the Coast Guard's Maritime Safety and Security Team Miami (91114), during a ceremony held at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility located on Homestead Air Reserve Base July 11.
Coast Guard Capt. Eugene Gray Jr., Commander, Deployable Operations Group, presided over the ceremony where Lt. Cmdr. Ingram assumed command and outgoing commander Lt. Cmdr. Bryan E. Clampitt relinquished command in front of hundreds of Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and civilians.
Clampitt is transferring to the Seventh District Command in Miami, supporting the response division, after commanding the MSST since July 2009.
As the commander of MSST Miami, Ingram will oversee all functions of the 82 person team, which are heavily focused on the deterrence, identification and interdiction of possible terrorist threats against our nation's waterways. MSST's are highly specialized teams on the water that are extremely mobile and world-wide deployable. Unit personnel are trained in anti-terrorism/force protection and maritime law enforcement capable of afloat and ashore operations.
Starting his Coast Guard career at Coast Guard Station Key West, Fla., Ingram enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1991. In 1998, he graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a bachelor's degree. In 2000 he decided to continue his career in the Coast Guard and completed Officer Candidate School at New London, Conn.
In 2005, Ingram received a master's degree in Business Administration from Averett University. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Homeland Security from American Military University.
Lt. Cmdr. Ingram is married to the former Tondaleya R. Hodge of Virginia Beach, Va. They have a son, Mason and a daughter, Mackenzi. |
