Does Homestead Air Reserve Base have a Base Exchange or Commissary?

Homestead ARB does not have a full base exchange or commissary, but it does have a Shoppette Express and military clothing store located across the street from the main entrance of the base. For more information, call (305) 258-3881.

Driving directions to Homestead Air Reserve Base

Homestead Air Reserve Base is located approximately 25 miles south of Miami and 20 miles north of the Florida Keys, between Everglades National Park on the west and Biscayne National Park on the east. The base is easily accessible via the Florida Turnpike for travelers coming from the north or south. To access the base from the Florida Turnpike take exit 5 (SW 288th Street) and travel east approximately 1 mile until you see the base. For travelers inbound via U.S. Highway 1, turn on SW 288th Street and drive east approximately 4 miles until you see the base.
Does Homestead Air Reserve Base have any programs to assist family members of military personnel?

Yes. Homestead Air Reserve Base has a full-time Family Readiness Support Center. While operated by the Air Force Reserve Command, the center is available to assist military dependents regardless of branch of service. The phone number to the center is (786) 415-7329.

How can I obtain an ID card at Homestead Air Reserve Base?

Homestead ARB has a Pass and ID section that can provide assistance to military retirees, active-duty, Reserve, Guard, regardless of the branch of service, and family members.

In order to obtain an ID card you must show two valid forms of identification that are non-expired. Acceptable forms of ID include: Driver's license, military ID card, school ID, social security card, voter's registration card, birth certificate, passport, resident card, alien card, foreign national ID with photo.

Dependants who are 21 and over, and are full time college students, must have a certified letter from the institutions registrar's office. The letter must show that the dependant is currently enrolled with an expected graduation date. For dependants who request to be enrolled into DEERS for tricare as beneficiaries, and the sponsor is on an active status or away, must present a valid DD-1172 given by the sponsor.

ID Cards/DEERS enrollments are made Monday through Friday from 0830-1200 by appointment only. Walk ins are welcomed on a case by cases basis. To make a reservation please call our ID cards section at 786-415-7138.

Homestead Air Reserve Base has an active speakers bureau which provides speakers, affiliated with Homestead Air Reserve Base, for civic and community organizations and events. How do I request a flyover?

Do you give base tours?

Homestead Air Reserve Base maintains a tour program that runs year round. Thousands of individuals visit Homestead Air Reserve Base every year. With our several tenant units, diverse missions, and proximity to Miami, Homestead ARB serves as a great destination to tour. Tours are available for groups of no more than 40 people. Due to our operations tempo and limited manning, Homestead ARB does not accommodate private tour requests for single individuals or small groups (e.g. families).

Homestead ARB Tour Guidelines:
· Tour requests must be submitted at least 30 days in advance.
· Tours are conducted ONLY on Fridays, during the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
· Remember, Public Affairs only supports tours for groups no more than 40 people.
· The Homestead ARB support staff approves tour requests based on Public Affairs recommendation and Homestead ARB scheduling considerations.
· Please make Public Affairs aware of any tour guests who are officers in the grade of O-6 or above as well as any distinguished persons, award winners, POWs, etc., which will be accompanying your tour. Please notify Public Affairs if any tour guests are not U.S. Citizens.
· All tours are subject to change or cancellation based on operational requirements.

DOD identification card holder guidance: Usually, DOD identification card holders with installation access may conduct personal tours of the base with small groups of their own sponsored guests. However, personnel must notify their commander and submit tour request forms to ensure base leadership is aware of the visit. DOD ID card holders also need to coordinate their tour and obtain approval from affected units well in advance, and must also observe restricted/controlled areas and ensure they and their guests obey policies on photography. Photography on and near the flightline, and in controlled/restricted areas, is prohibited without official written permission.
