Colonel CRAIG R. SIMMONS

Col. Craig R. Simmons is the Deputy Wing Commander, 482d Fighter Wing, Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla. He leads a mission-ready combat fighter wing. Col. Simmons also establishes and directs plans, objectives, policies and wing organization for more than 2,300 military and DOD civilian personnel as well as is responsible for overall operation, safety and security of a 2,200-acre Air Reserve Base, including tenant units.
 
Col. Simmons received his commission in 1996, from the United States Air Force Academy. He has served as a Fighter Pilot, Instructor Pilot, Flight Evaluator, Air Liaison Officer, Joint Terminal Attack Controller, Flight Commander, Director of Operations, and Commander of the 482d Operations Group, Detachment 1. Prior to his current position, Col. Simmons was Chief, Combat Operations Division, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.
 
Col. Simmons is a combat veteran of ten deployments including Operations Northern Watch, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Unified Protector.
